As an Au Pair in South Africa, you are responsible for providing up to 45 hours of child care each week with a minimum of three weeks (15 days) leave during the year. Each family has unique requirements, which means all au pairs have a slightly different focus. There are many variables, such as ages of the children, dietary restrictions, favourite activities, and any special needs. Regardless of the situation, quality childcare
is always top priority for an Au Pair. Aside from childcare, Au Pairs may be responsible for other child-related tasks, such as doing laundry, helping with homework, and organising activity schedules. Household
management tasks like running errands or organizing are generally added only if a Au Pair is caring for school-aged children.
